A (very) Late Winter Visit to Cistus Nursery

At Plant Nerd Night, Sean Hogan, owner of Cistus Nursery, gave a brief talk about some cool plants.  Among them was a silver-leaf Mahonia, and I really wanted to get my hands on one.  Beyond that, any visit to Cistus Nusery is a good one — it’s like going on a quick vacation to a far-away land.  So I asked my friend Kate if she wanted to go with me, and we set a date to go this past weekend.

This post will mostly be the photos from that trip, but I do want to say that we in the Pacific Northwest are so lucky that we can grow so many great plants.  The rainy, dark winters here can get you down, but as spring approaches I am reminded that all is not lost, and that there are warm, sunny days in the garden ahead — days surrounded by a variety of some of the greatest plants around.

On to the photos!…
