After (Design Concepts)

This family has lived in this SE Portland home for a number of years, and while their front garden was relatively low maintenance, it was filled with invasives (ivy & vinca) that were getting away from them, and not as beautiful as they’d hoped when they added some favorite plants over the years. Both homeowners enjoy growing food, and also love the beauty flowers can bring to the garden.
But with a young family, they don’t have much time to spend on the garden, and they weren’t sure how to segue from what they have now into what they were hoping their garden could be. The garden also experiences increasing amounts of shade as trees in the garden and the sidewalk mature.
In addition to suggesting a design concept & planting plan with suitable plants, I suggested bringing some plants right up to the front porch to help balance the front door and for a continuous garden experience on your way into the house.
