After (Design Concepts)

This homeowner wasn’t sure what she wanted to do with her front garden, but knew she wanted a different experience walking from the driveway to the front door. Her garden, in the Waverly neighborhood in Portland, is enclosed by mature trees and experiences mostly shade. There is a bit of an opening for sun in the middle of the day, and the front windows look out over this spot.
The owner is interested in sculpture, and also making gardening easier as she ages in place, including removing the lawn. She wanted the garden to be more peaceful, but also more interesting. She enjoyed the open feeling the lawn created, so I included areas of both Sedge and Japanese Forest Grass to give that same feeling with a bit more texture.
